Description

High-tech coatings for Gravure and Anilox

Roto Hybrid's Diamond like Carbon technology is an environmentally friendly alternative to both Chromium VI and Chromium III, traditionally used in RotoGravure and further specialist options are available that replace the Ceramic (chromium oxide) used for Anilox in Flexo.

DLC layers can significantly improve the performance and service life of Gravure cylinders and Anilox rollers. Like no other layer system, DLC combines the properties of high micro-hardness, low wear and extremely low coefficient of sliding friction, which reaches or even exceeds the values of Teflon. Due to the resulting mechanical material properties, DLC is predestined for use in tribological systems, i.e. wherever components move towards one another and friction and wear arise.

Properties of the DLC coatings on Gravure cylinders and Anilox rollers:

Diamond-like carbon perfectly combine the property profiles of diamond and Teflon-based surface finishes.

For a printing roller technology this results in:

  • Superior ink release technology
  • Ink savings on press
  • Enhanced reproduction of engraved information
  • Higher hardness values than traditional Technologies
  • High wear protection, significantly extends the cylinder service life on press

Possible replacement to

Chromium VI Chromium III Nickel
